Accessing eBooks and eJournal articles

To access eBooks and electronic journal articles, you will need your University of York and Hull IT account details.

Electronic journals and eBooks are usually only available at one University so the easiest way to find the resources is to use HYENA, the HYMS cross search engine. HYENA will open search results in two tabs, so you will need to have pop-ups enabled in your browser.

If accessing a University of York resource, electronic access will be listed under the View It tab of YorSearch if available. There may be more than one link (often for different date ranges if an eJournal). Choose the appropriate link. The York EZproxy service may prompt you for your York login details.

If accessing a University of Hull resource, when you follow the link from the library catalogue you may be asked to login via the Hull portal. If you are taken straight through to the resource, you will need to look for the login and then for the institutional or organisational login, choose United Kingdom Access Management Federation, and then University of Hull and login.

If you are logged in and cannot access the resource you have selected, check the following:

Is the article you want to access within the date range subscribed to by the library in question?

Are you signed in with the correct University?

If the answer is yes, contact library@hyms.ac.uk with the details of the article or ebook you are trying to access and we will look into it for you. See also libguides.hull.ac.uk/medicine.
