Access to BNF and BNF/C from 7 November 2014

From 7 November 2014, access to the BNF and BNFC will soon no longer be available via http://www.bnf.org/. Please update any local bookmarks you have to
http://www.evidence.nhs.uk/formulary/bnfc/current
and
http://www.evidence.nhs.uk/formulary/bnf/current
For those students with an NHS Athens account (Year 1's, you should have received or will shortly receive an email with a link to activate your account) you can also download an app for both BNF/C for use on your mobile device. See https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/nice-bnf/id523093958?mt=8 for example.

If you receive a message saying “Account not active”, follow these instructions:

Before trying to download the BNF app(s) first activate your account and then access a different resource. Once you have done this you will be able to download the apps.

If the problem continues, contact your local NHS Library in the first instance. Contact details for your local NHS library can be found at http://libguides.hull.ac.uk/medicine/eResourceAccessInfo. The staff will determine whether this issue should be escalated to NICE.

BNF App Permissions issue

The BNF app available from NHS Evidence is currently not working. When downloaded it displays the message "Your credentials are correct but you do not have the necessary permissions to access the resource". NHS Evidence is working on fixing the error and we will let you know as soon as we hear that it is working again.

Issues with NICE BNF and BNFC Apps for Smartphones

Healthcare professionals can register for smartphone apps to use the BNF and BNFC for free with their NHS Athens username and passwords. Full details are available at http://www.nice.org.uk/aboutnice/nicewebsitedevelopment/NICEApps.jsp

Some users who have already downloaded the apps have recently been experiencing issues due to changes and upgrades in the software. If you are experiencing any issues using the apps, the current advice is to try removing the app and then reinstalling.
