Frontline Library and IT support at the University of Hull – Have your say
University of Hull students only
Academic Services are looking at modernising the way we provide frontline IT and Library support and would like to hear what students think. We want to know what you think about existing services. What works well and what works not so well. We want to hear about your expectations, your thoughts on new services, location, availability, self help, technology, how we communicate and engage with students, in fact anything that can help us improve the student experience. With this in mind, we will be offering students the chance to discuss issues in more detail with us at a number of student forums.
Refreshments will be provided and students taking part will be entered into a draw that includes prizes of Amazon vouchers and free printer credits. Sessions are available at the following dates and times:
4th May 19:00 BJL SR2
5th May 19:00 BJL SR2
10th May 13:15 Students Union MR1 (3rd floor)

University of York Library - Alternative study spaces
As you may be aware, study places in the J B Morrell Library are under additional pressure due to the current major refurbishment work.
To help you find other places to study across the Heslington campus, the Library is pulling together information from a variety of sources into a new University of York study spaces web page. Please note this is a work in progress and is being updated as new spaces are identified.
The web pages include some spaces where the University has agreed to extend access hours. The Library is also investigating options for additional new spaces and is aiming for these to be ready as soon as possible. These will be advertised them as soon as they become available.
Please look at the Library refurbishment website for further information on the project. Please email library@hyms.ac.uk if you have any HYMS-related comments or queries.

University of York Library - December refurbishment update
In preparation for the refurbishment work that is due to begin on the second floor of the JB Morrell Library in January 2010, the following stock moves will be taking place:
- Y (Medicine & Nursing), D (Sociology) and DA (Social Policy & Social Work) journals will move to the ground floor, opposite the Audio Visual Room near the foot of the main stairs (in the former PC classroom).
- D and DA books will be moved to the first floor.
These moves will take place in wb 14th December 2009 with work taking place between 22:00 and 08:00 to reduce disturbance. Work will carry on into the following week if required - this work will take place during the day. Look out for signs indicating the new location of stock or ask a member of staff for assistance.
More information and links to the refurbishment blog can be found at http://www.york.ac.uk/library/libraryrefurbishment/. Please email library@hyms.ac.uk if you have any HYMS-specific concerns or queries.
