University of York Library refurbishment update
How to request a book from the third floor of the JB Morrell Library
Science book collections in the following list have moved to the third floor of the JB Morrell Library:
General Science (R)
Mathematics (S-SF)
Computer Science (SK)
Astronomy (T)
Physics & Electronics (U)
Chemistry (V)
Geology & Biosciences (W-WX)
Biology (X-XZ)
Technology (Z).
The newly-refurbished third floor will not be open to Library users until January. In the meantime, Library staff will retrieve books for users. There are 3 ways to request a book:
1. Complete a retrieval form (available from the Lending Services and Help & Information desks) and leave it in the marked box on the Lending Services counter near the entrance to Key Texts. Please allow sufficient time for retrieval: for example, if a form is submitted between 09.00 and 10.00, the book will be available to collect from Lending Services after 11.00.
The final book retrieval of the day will take place an hour before the Lending Services desk closes and self-service opening hours begin. Opening hours for the remainder of the autumn term and the Christmas vacation are published on the Library's website.
2. Phone the Library's Lending Services staff (01904 323873) to ask for a book to be retrieved at the next available opportunity. Staff will advise you when the book will be ready for you to collect.
3. Send an email to Lending Services staff providing the details of the book you need, and the date and time you will collect it. At least 24 hours' notice is required for email requests.
Books not collected from Lending Services by the end of the day will be returned to the third floor.
