HYMS students and staff can now get free access to the Paperpile reference management program via the University of York.
Paperpile
is a simple but powerful web-based reference management tool, with special
emphasis on integration with Google Docs and Google Scholar. It allows you to
organise your research papers, sync PDFs to Google Drive and cite your
references in Google Docs (it does not currently have direct integration with Microsoft Word).
To make full use of its functions you will need to access Paperpile via the Google Chrome browser (available on HYMS, Hull and York desktops), but the app is intuitive to use, and has particular strengths in the collation and organisation of references. It also has sharing capabilities for collaborative research. Paperpile is already being used by several academic staff at York, and the University is the first UK Higher Education institution to buy a site
licence, making it freely available to all staff and students.
In addition to Paperpile, the University of York continues to offer access, training and support for EndNote and EndNote Online, and the University of Hull provides the same for RefWorks.
Information on how to access Paperpile, EndNote and RefWorks can be found in the Bibliographic management software box on our Research page:
